This Christmas, challenge yourself to make a meaningful impact. Many children facing homelessness deserve the simple joy of feeling seen and cherished during the holidays.

By sponsoring a child, you’re not just giving gifts—you’re giving hope, warmth, and a reason to believe in brighter days. Be the change that turns their season from ordinary to extraordinary. Your act of kindness can light up their world and remind them that they are never alone. Will you be the reason a child smiles this Christmas?

We are partnering with {4} schools with a total of 240 McKinney-Vento students. McKinney-Vento is defined as: children and youth who lack “a fixed, regular, and adequate nighttime residence” will be considered homeless. This includes Children or Youths who are sharing the housing of other persons due to loss of housing, economic hardship, or a similar reason. McKinney Vento families may also be living in motels, hotels, vehicles, trailer parks, shelters, etc. due to financial hardship and lack of an adequate home. The McKinney-Vento Act is designed to ensure that students identified as homeless do not encounter additional barriers to education.

Jeremiah 29:11 says, "For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope."

Community Support

Rise Above Poverty continues to make an impact in our community! We recently donated 70 sticks of deodorant and 100 pairs of socks to the Rescue Mission Men's Department, as well as 136 pairs of underwear and 56 pairs of socks and 5 winter coats to Van Duyn School.

The gratitude and appreciation we received reaffirm just how vital our work is in meeting the basic needs for those in our community. These contributions are possible because of the generosity and support of people like you.
