The Rise Above Poverty’s Reading Clinic is proud to have received a $22,000.00 BJ’s Charitable Foundation grant to support the Reading Clinic which is design to help students achieve on level benchmarks. This funding will make a positve difference for the students and families we serve.
The Reading Clinic was bustling with activity today! We welcomed 12 students who were excited to enhance their reading proficiency and 10 volunteers who generously donated their time and effort. The day flew by as we engaged in a variety of interactive literacy activities, including reading aloud, grammar lessons, and vocabulary quizzes. Despite the frenetic pace, everyone had an enriching and enjoyable experience.

This week The Rise Above Poverty Reading Clinic has the pleasure of having Iris St. Meran as a guest speaker and reader. Mrs. St. Meran is a news reporter at NewsChannel 9, WSYR-TV. Our students were so excited to have a real live tv personality join our program. As you can imagine they flooded her with questions about tv, college and her video on seals during the New York State Fair.
Mrs. St. Meran thank you for visiting our program and reading to our students.
Thank You Dollar General, For selecting Rise Above Poverty’s Reading Clinic to be recipients of the Dollar General Literacy Foundation Youth Literacy Grant. Funding ensures we continue with the Reading Clinic’s Fall Session which begins next week!
